My husband and I have just begun playing "euro-style" games and this is our newest acquisition. We have also played and enjoyed "Lost Cities", "Ingenious", and "Carcassonne: Hunters and Gatherers".
This game involves each player taking turns placing small plastic camels on the board, which is outlined in hexagons. You can't just place the camels willy-nilly -- they have to be placed adjacent to your previously-placed camels so that you wind up forming "caravans" of your camels.
Points are scored when camels are placed on or near special spots on the board. After the camel-placement phase of the game is over, then there is a final round of scoring based on what the board looks like at the end.
I am not going to go into the various types of scoring because it'll come out sounding way more complicated than it is. It's quite easy and we were able to have a fun, strategic game our first time out.
