I came across this game when look at information on Ikusa (the new Samurai Swords). This game is very similar and fans of that game will enjoy this one.
The box is very durable and easily survived the UPS shipment. The game components themselves are also high quality. The pieces are slight smaller than those in Ikusa. You get four armies of knights (cavalry), swordsmen, archers (get to shoot first), and spearmen. Unlike Ikusa's board Warlords of Europe's board features terrain (Plains, Farmland, Mountains, Forest) that effect not only combat but income as well.
Other components are cardboard "money", and cards. The cards represent military innovations and abilities, the Church, and merchants.
The rules are straight forward and easy to follow. Anyone familiar with Ikusa will have no trouble with Warlords.
The only drawback is that you only get four armies. However, this can be fixed by ordering additional armies from the game...
